Vintage 70’s themed boudoir session| oceanside, california boudoir photographer
It’s no surprise that I am a lover of all things vintage - specifically the 60s and 70s. My studio decor is all vintage and pulled from the art deco revival era & is mixed with western accents. I am inspired by film + cinema and I wanted my space to be a place that inspires my clients with the outfits they wear to their session.
When my client, morgan, booked her session and filled out her style questionnaire, both kat and myself were so stoked because she wanted to really channel all things 60s and 70s through not just makeup and hair, but through her outfits.
Kat curated the most beautiful style guide with so many beautiful pieces that are modern and of the times, but also gave a gentle nod to the 60s and 70s.
When you work with Kat, she builds you a custom style guide based on things like, your sizing, your style, your color preferences, your budget, and where you like to shop. We also focus on highlighting and connecting you to brands that are sustainably made, women owned, and BIPOC owned.
Kat creates a custom color palette for you, so that if you do not want to buy anything new, but love the colors, you can use that as inspiration as well!
Morgan really wanted to go more natural and earthy to highlight her complexion and hair color.
The best part is that we take all of that and create a “vibe” for you that truly serves as inspiration entirely. Morgan’s vibe was feminine, retro, and boho inspired.
Morgan ended up shopping 3 out of the four looks from her style guide,
and it really made such a difference in the styling and the direction
we took her photoshoot.
Because she was feeling so prepped and ready prior to her session, thanks to Kat’s styling, the session was truly all about taking all that inspiration that morgan already felt so connected with, and turning it into real life, badass photos.
Morgan is a dancer and so it was very important that we incorporated tons of movement and play into her images. We also really wanted to invoke a feeling of power, so I often shot from below to help her appear powerful.
My makeup artist, Christina, completely nailed her makeup look. Morgan was inspired by 60s / 70s fashion icon, Twiggy. Morgan channeled this era in all the ways. alllllll the ways.
When you book a session with me, from start to finish, we focus on creating a session geared entirely to you.
Why try to be someone else during a session, when you can get into touch with yourself and show her off? Every single one of my clients is different. They come from different backgrounds, are on different body journeys, and have different goals for their end product.
morgan ended up purchasing a 12x12 album, a giant 18x36 metal wall art portrait to hang in her studio, as well as 40 images in digital format. but most importantly, she walked out of my studio with a new found love for herself and lots of confidence - that’s the freaking take away my friends.
