If you can do this, there is nothing you cannot do.
I worked with Ariel last April, when she came in to celebrate herself and her birthday through an empowering boudoir session. This woman was in it for herself every step of the way, and it was truly inspiring. Intention was at the forefront of her “why”. When I get to work with women who are in it for themselves, it’s so so so cool. To see you come in for no one other than yourself, is just like - WOW. It’s pretty freaking rad to know that you are feeling inspired enough and bold enough to do something like this for no one other than you and to know you’ll have these photos forever as a constant reminder of your badassery, it’s just - unreal. I am so proud of all of you- future, present, and past clients. You all blow me away!
Ariel was kind enough to take time and share a bit about herself and her experience working with me! Keep reading!
“As a trauma survivor it was SO important that I found a boudoir photographer with a ‘safe’ vibe.”
I came across Carrie Anne’s work in mid - late 2019 but I lurked around on her Instagram profile for a bit, read her Yelp reviews, watched her stories, etc before considering reaching out. I felt so vulnerable during that time. I’d moved out here to increase the proximity of a long distance relationship that, during this time, had absolutely crumbled, leaving me feeling so, so unsure of myself. I was worried about sustaining my life in San Diego and found all these insecurities coming to a head again.
One weekend after a couple glasses of wine, I bit the bullet and sent Carrie Anne an inquiry. I IMMEDIATELY felt like I was a priority to her. She was so transparent, friendly, and down to earth. As someone who rarely spends money on myself, the cost was initially jarring, but I KNEW from that first contact she was the photographer from me and that the cost would absolutely be worth it.
I spent some time adjusting to my “new normal” (before COVID ruined that phrase for all of us) and shortly after, saw Carrie Anne post about a birthday sale. I jumped in with both feet and committed to the session fee.
I knew I had that bad bitch inside me and just needed to find her again, further feeling like Carrie Anne could help.
Within the next few months we planned a date we’d do my shoot. On my 30th birthday. From my first contact with Carrie Anne she was NOTHING but available. Even when life got crazy again, she’d send me gentle reminders, to stay on a schedule, and that helped me to have a stress-free experience. Regardless, I stressed, but she was always there. Whether I was having second thoughts on outfits or wanted suggestions on a good aesthetician to do my eyebrows, she was totally my wing-woman! Her schedule allowed me time to order outfits, try them on, and return for correct sizes so I was comfortable with the fit, which made me feel so much more confident going in.
The day of the shoot, I was shaking so bad, which I explained to her was how my anxiety typically manifested and that I was personally self-conscious about. Carrie Anne was the sweetest, reassuring human, saying nothing but “That’s okay, my camera doesn’t see that”. I still shook, but the embarrassment I felt about it melted away. She would occasionally pause to show me a shot she had just taken and I could hardly believe the woman her camera caught was me.
“This woman was sexy, confident, and badass!”
With each outfit change, I felt a transformation happening.
This woman still shook a bit, but she shook with her back arched, her toes pointed, and her booty poppin’! And I’d be remiss to not mention how detail oriented Carrie Anne was. One outfit in particular was very strappy and she was so on top of it, lining the everything up and fixing anything else she noticed, like my stockings rolling down, etc., while still being so considerate; giving me a heads up if she was about to be in my space or touch me to adjust my pose. They seem like small gestures, but absolutely meant the WORLD to me.
After the session came and went, Carrie Anne continued to be available throughout the editing process and honestly, has become a friend. This woman will forever be in your corner and after meeting her, you can’t help but reciprocate. Her whole heart is absolutely in what she does and it shows.
In the weeks since I’ve had my session, I feel like a different woman. I know it sounds cliche, and believe me, no one is more cynical and hateful of cliches than I am, but it’s the truth. I’ve had my days where people are ugly about my choice to do this, but Carrie Anne is there for me with that, too, reminding me what this session symbolizes for me and helping me to lessen self-doubt.
“Anytime I wake up feel ‘blah’ all I have to do is look at my photos and remind myself - ‘If you can do this, there’s nothing you can’t do’.”
Bottom line: Carrie Anne is vibes, a gem of a human, and you should check her out.
xoxo
