Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located & do you have your own studio?

Yes! I have my own gorgeous little slice of boudoir heaven and my studio is located in the heart of Oceanside’s “South O” neighborhood. We are conveniently located right off both the 5 and the 78. The studio and space are wheelchair accessible.

What type of photography do you offer?

I specialize in “boudoir” which is just an old term for “sexy photoshoots”. Boudoir has become so much more than that, and I personally specialize in working with women, as well as non binary and gender non-conforming people who are looking to celebrate themselves through the photoshoot experience. My focus is to offer a supportive and consent based space to empower the people I work with. Whether your goal is to book a shoot to gift to your partner or spouse, or you want to do this to simply celebrate yourself and your body, I am here to lead you through a powerful, fun, and exciting photo shoot experience where we not only get gorgeous photos, but we have fun and learn how to celebrate ourselves!

How do I book a session?

It’s simple! Please head to the contact page and submit your form! You can expect a reply from me within 24 hours. I will send session info, pricing, and my booking calendar!

How much can I expect to invest in a session with you?

Booking a session with me is like choosing your own adventure; there’s not just one package or one option- there are many! The first step is securing your session date with the non-refundable session fee of $499. This covers our shoot time together (a badass, 2 hour experience at my studio) as well as our time prior to your session where I help you prep and pick out what to wear through a personalized style guide experience!

What product(s) you decide to purchase are entirely up to you! I offer digital collections, albums, as well as all-inclusive collections that have a little bit of everything. Digital collections start at $850 and albums start $1300 and client’s typically invest anywhere from $1350 - $4800 into their experience.

I have no idea what to wear- do you help with that?

YES! Aside from the session itself, helping you prep for your session and pick out outfits is probably my favorite part of our time working together. Once you book, you will be guided every step of the way from there. I do this everyday, but this is your first rodeo and I get that. I am here for you and want to make sure you are never wondering “what’s next?” or “what do I even wear to this?”.

About a month prior to your session, I reach out and connect you with my stylist (and best friend) Kat! We send you a questionnaire which allows you to share more about your “why” and how you envision yourself in your photos.

You’ll let us know your sizing, your budget for new items, your color preferences, your style and vibe, and anything in-between! From there, Kat and I build you a custom style guide, where you get to shop directly from. You can also use the guide as inspiration and we are here for you if you want consulting on items you already own and want to incorporate into your session!

Is hair and makeup included in my session?

Hair and makeup is an add on service that I will book for you, should you want or need it! I like to give my client’s the option to add this on to their experience.

Once you book and pick a date, I will check in to see if you need hair and makeup and if you do, I will book one of my preferred artists for you! You won’t have to pay their fee until the session day. Makeup and hair ranges from $275 - $350 depending on the artist and their availability.

Do you offer payment plans?

Heck yeah! I want everyone to be able to afford to work with me. I know that it is an investment and I offer both in-house payment plans as well as accept PayPal Credit.

Do you share my images online?

I am a consent based photographer, meaning, I keep consent at the forefront of my business practice. I will never ever ever share your images unless I have written permission to do so.

Once you book, you will sign my session agreement which has a section for you to either grant permission or not for me to share you images. Whatever you decide, I respect! You will be able to make the decision to allow me to share any number of images, or NONE at all! Totally up to you!

What sets you apart from other photographers?

A lot of things! Every photographer has a different “why” for why they are a boudoir photographer. My “why” is very much linked to my own healing journey from my eating disorder. I am a boudoir photographer because I know what it’s like to be scared of being photographed and to feel vulnerable and insecure at the thought of stepping in front of a camera. I want to offer a space for my clients to work through those fears so that they can then leave their shoot feeling powerful and confident. What we do and learn during our time working together is also what you will take out into the real world with you as you continue to heal on your own journey, too!

My “why” and my own personal artistic approach in how I see light and pose my clients is definitely what sets me apart as both a photographer as well as visually. My studio is also unique and adorned with one-of-a-kind vintage furniture, as an extension of my own personality and soul. I want my studio to feel like you’re walking into an inspiring and exciting space that feels badass and cool and also very down to earth and welcoming.

I encourage you to read my blog post on the Carrie Anne Kelly Studios Experience to get a better idea of what you can expect from our time working together!

Can I bring a friend to my shoot?

If it makes you feel more comfortable to bring a friend, they can hang during hair and makeup but I do ask that they exit during our shoot time. There are two awesome coffee shops across the street and the studio is also a few blocks from the beach!

It’s important that our session is private, so for that reason I do not allow friends/guests present while we’re shooting. Trust me, it’s a lot more difficult to get comfortable and let loose if someone close to you is sitting there watching.

If having a friend attend the shooting portion is absolutely a must for you, let’s chat and see what we can figure out together!
